  2. What's the most valuable aspect/functionality of an LMS that you are missing? Does anyone have that in their product now?

Ease of use by both Trainers handling a high volume of trainees in multiple classes and by a single individual registering themselves and taking one course
Reporting is key, it needs to be easy to work with and analyze data multiple ways

  3. What's the most valuable aspect/functionality of an LMS that you have (and maybe didn't know you needed or wanted it prior to purchasing)?

Increasing regulatory requirements, especially in California and the medical industry, make reporting a must have

  4. Does anyone have a vendor who has been exceptional (is flexible, responsive to requests, works as a business partner, has a consistently stable product)?

Currently considering NetDimensions who offers the services needed
Many vendors provide only large packages that integrate payroll systems, web based course delivery, HR systems, etc but also come with a large price tag. It's difficult to find a provider that offers exactly the services needed.  (Jay)  Many of the big systems that have bought out the smaller ones over the years have fairly large price tags.  I have hard a hard time finding a basic system for a resonable price.

  5. Does anyone have a vendor they'd recommend not using and why?

HealthStream - it's designed to be used by medical professionals, it's good for providing compliance tools and reporting but not designed for large volumes of students being registered for multiple classrooom facilitated courses, in a large company the managing of groups when there is an automatic download from a payroll system (which categorizes groups differently than operations) either has to be done manually (which is time intensive) or handled on an individual person basis (also time intensive)
